Wintertime chores

Winter is still here. On the farm that consists mostly of preparing for spring: when we will have dozens of pigs and a garden full of plants to care for -and little time to plan things out carefully. From seed ordering to equipment repairs, we stay busier than we thought we would. But the pace of life it’s still quite a bit slower.

Then there is all the planning: where will the pigs go and when? How much will we plant of each crop and when? Who will do which work and when? What will we buy and sell and when. How do we close our fertility loops?

We also like to play with and read   to our children in wintertime. That’s maybe the most beautiful thing about this slow season!
