This year is proving to be full of promise. We’re renting additional acreage up the road from our land in New Albany, Indiana in order to significantly expand our garden, as well as begin a new enterprise: PIGS!
To make this a success, we’ve partnered with the non-profit organization, Kiva Zip, to raise a $4,400 loan that will enable us to buy a tractor and piglets. The beauty of this loan is that it’s going to two very significant purchases for us. The tractor is an investment that will remain with us for as long as we farm and will be something that even our children could use in their farming days. The pigs will jump-start an operation that will change the profitability and diversity of our farm for good. It will set us on a course to generate profits that will allow us to farm better, provide new and more products, and increase our potential for seasons to come.
